A heat press patch is a pre-made patch with a heat-activated adhesive backing, bonded to the hat under heat and pressure rather than sewn. It is quick and inexpensive, and the bond weakens over time with flexing, washing, and heat exposure, which is why patches meant to last are stitched down.

How the Bond Actually Works
