Why Branded Caps Cannot Be Waterproof
A six-panel cap has six crown seams, a brim seam and a sweatband seam. Each is created by a needle passing through the fabric hundreds of times, and every hole is a path for water.
Rain jackets solve this with seam taping — heat-sealed strips bonded over the seams from inside. That construction exists in headwear only on purpose-built rain hats, because it adds cost, stiffness and bulk that cap buyers do not want.
