Satin is worth understanding because it gets grouped with the others and is not a warmth feature at all. - Air dry flat, and expect it to take longer than an unlined hat.
- Fluff the pile by hand once dry to restore loft.
- Avoid fabric softener, which coats the fibers and flattens the loft.
Matted sherpa is the failure mode and it is not reversible. Once the pile has been compressed and heat-set, the loft that provided the warmth is gone and the lining becomes a flat layer.
